Thirsty tales

Moët & Chandon opens exclusive pop-up terrace

Moët pop up La Nostra Gigi

What a delight: the sun is shining brightly and the rosé and champagne brunches are flying off the shelves. From the bottomless brunches with AIX rosé and the rosé brunch with Whispering Angel (there are still spots available for both, just sayin’) to the just-announced pop-up terrace from the cheerful Moët & Chandon. Here you can read when the pop-up terrace opens and what other champagne activities will take place this summer.

Amsterdam could use a little extra luxury and glamour, they thought at Moët & Chandon. And to turn that thought into action right away, the champagne house is opening an exclusive pop-up champagne terrace this summer at the cheerful and colourful trattoria La Nostra Gigi. Centrally located on Marie Heinekenplein, around the corner from the Heineken Brewery in the heart of Amsterdam’s De Pijp.

Ring… 2 champagnes please

On La Nostra Gigi’s pop-up terrace, you’ll find a special telephone that you can use to call the famous champagne house and order a glass of champagne. I’ll share the phone number right away: 1743. This number is not entirely coincidental; it is the year in which what is now the largest and best-known champagne house in the world was founded.

Champagne to eat with

Champagne is ideal as an aperitif, but you can also eat very well with it. In fact, I strongly recommend that you do so. I can still vividly remember evenings with bottles of champagne on a base of four cashews. It wasn’t great. So make sure you take a different approach if you’ve called 1743 a few times.

La Nostra Gigi’s appetisers pair perfectly with Moët’s different champagnes. For example, the flavour of thinly sliced scallops with bergamot, vinaigrette and pomegranate and grapefruit granita goes perfectly with Moët’s house champagne, Brut Impérial. With the Brut Rosé Impérial, the restaurant has a delicious tuna tartare with black olives, pistachios and lime on the menu.

Opening of the Moët & Chandon pop-up terrace

The pop-up terrace opens on Tuesday 28 May. But that’s not all; a Sunday brunch will also be coming from June, followed by Lobster Weekend and an Oyster Weekend. And you guessed it: all featuring Moët & Chandon’s champagnes centre stage. I can’t wait.
