OH YES! Albert Heijn is now selling tompouce donuts
A trip to the supermarket is also immediately a hunt for new products at FavorFlav. Last week I walked past the cake aisle and my sweet tooth spotted something fantastically new: the tompouce donut! As far as I’m concerned, this is truly a case of 1 + 1 = 3!
The tompouce is number 1 for me (well, tied for first place with the Bossche Bol) in my list of favorite Dutch pastries. But I’m also always up for a tompouce with a twist. Tompouce pie? Bring it on! Tompouce iced coffee? Yes please! And this new donut is yet another outright winner.
Yellow custard and pink
The tompouce donut is a donut filled with yellow custard and covered with the characteristic sweet pink layer. And yes, it really is delicious; go try it! You can find the tompouce donut in the cake aisle at most Albert Heijn supermarkets, so if you already have a visit planned (to score the KFC chicken bitterballen, another big hit!) you can pick up some tompouce donuts at the same time! Two pink, creamy heavy-hitters will set you back three euros fifty. Enjoy!
