The Oishii Bun: you’ll want to try this

Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, known in mayonnaise as Eke Bosman, knows where to find the best snacks. Whether it’s the unparalleled loempidel or the best pizza in Amsterdam: Snackspert shows you the way. This time to Oishii Bun in Amsterdam and Rotterdam—and oh my goodness, what an invention this is.

Oishii is the Japanese word for delicious. But what exactly is it, and where can you buy it? More importantly: why is it so delicious? We wrote about the Oishii Bun back in early 2022, and Snackspert is also a fan of this UFO-like bun.
Oishii Bun
Available in Amsterdam for a while now (at the Hermitage Market on Saturdays and at Restaurant Sushi Bowl on ‘t Mercatorplein), and coming soon to Rotterdam: Oishii Bun. I wrote about it over a year ago and was so positively surprised that something like this isn’t really big in the Netherlands. An oishii bun is a kind of hamburger, but in the form of a wrapped bun. And shaped like a UFO (see the second photo). What follows is a deliciously fried little burger that continues to steam slightly inside the bun after it has been prepared. Yum. This time I went for the Tsukiji, a bun with salmon, Japanese cucumber salad and sticky sesame sauce. Yum! That sesame sauce, slightly salty, is a very welcome addition to the fresh flavors of cucumber and salmon. And that salmon—wow, just as soft as ice cream on a hot day. A delight for the mouth. Enjoy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½
