This is the winning combination: coffee and cola (or is it?)

Do you love iced coffee? Do you have a deadline you need to power through? Or can’t you function without an extra dose of caffeine? Pour an espresso into your cup of cola, and you won’t know what hits you.

Imagine this: a hot espresso in a cold glass of cola. Doesn’t sound crazy at all, right? Cola tastes like caramel and spices, so combining it with strong coffee isn’t crazy at all. Coffee in your cola, or vice versa, is a thing. Coca-Cola even had an extra-strong super cola in its range for a while, with extra caffeine and a somewhat more bitter taste.
Half and half
Cold coffee with sugar over ice cubes, or iced coffee, we’ve written about it before. And this cola-coffee marriage does bear a strong resemblance to it. Brew a nice strong pot of coffee, let it cool a little and then mix it fifty-fifty with cola. Pour it into a coffee mug, and none of your colleagues will notice that you’re already slurping cola well before lunch.
Chilled cinnamon macchiato
For die-hard coffee lovers, adding sugar to coffee feels like sacrilege, and they absolutely loathe milk. But this coffee-cola situation is also served with a splash of milk. Add a handful of ice cubes and you have something that comes close to a chilled cinnamon macchiato from the famous chain. Sugar rush? That goes perfectly with the shock your system gets from the caffeine in this brew.
Hello Mr. Black!
Want to make it even better? Add a splash of alcohol, and you’ll have a true winner in your coffee mug. In Mexico, cola and coffee are traditionally combined with tequila—because why not, really? In Ireland, they shamelessly add whiskey, while in Australia they mix it with vodka and call the drink Mr. Black. Off you go to your next Zoom meeting—just watch how smoothly it goes with your coffee mug filled to the brim with Mr. Black.
