What a dream hotel: having breakfast among the giraffes
In a few restaurants, your dog is more than welcome, and there are cat cafés, but generally speaking, restaurants are not very welcoming when it comes to animals. A new hotel in Great Britain is taking a different approach: at Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve, you will soon be able to have breakfast among the giraffes.
The hotel looks like a cosy British country house, with half-timbered walls and a gently sloping tiled roof. Floral curtains at the windows, a teapot on the table and… giraffes poking their heads through the window to check out the breakfast buffet. If the giraffes peer into your hotel room, you could feed them through the open window.
Lions around the cabin
The giraffes are new to the hotel in Kent, but for several years the grounds have already offered a few other extraordinary places to stay. In the part of the grounds where a group of lions lives, you can stay in a luxury cabin with huge windows, allowing you to keep a close eye on the predators around your accommodation – and them on you. The wildlife reserve also has places to sleep among the wolves.
On the waiting list?
There is already a long waiting list for a stay at the giraffe hotel. The prices for overnight stays have not yet been announced, but it probably will not be a cheap affair: one night among the lions costs £1,750, which converts to almost €2,000. For comparison: a ticket to Artis costs €23.
