World champion eats 76 hot dogs in ten minutes

Joey Chestnut is and remains the world record holder for eating hot dogs. Last weekend, he ate 76 hot dogs in ten minutes, improving his own world record in the process. Joey competes in the hot dog championships every year, and this was the fourteenth time he won the competition.

The competition was held on July 4, a national holiday in America. Dozens of contestants tried to stuff hot dogs down as quickly as possible, but Joey is the undefeated winner. He ate more than 26 sausage rolls more than runner-up Geoffrey Esper.

Jaws eats eggs too

Joey is not just anyone. As mentioned: world champion hot dog eater, but he can just as easily polish off a plate of hard-boiled eggs at record speed, or a bowl full of jam-filled Twinkies. No wonder his nickname is ‘Jaws’. Last year he ate 75 hot dogs, the year before 74, and now he has once again claimed the world title with 76 sausage rolls. The prize? A mustard-yellow belt.

Stuffing them down

There is also a special championship for women, in which Michelle Lesko managed to stuff the most hot dogs down. Lucky for her that seven-time champion Miko Sudo did not compete this year, because she is expecting her first child. In 2020, Miko became the world champion hot dog eater after managing to fold away 48.5 of them in ten minutes. Last weekend, Michelle managed 31, just one bite short.
