You can now buy apple pie custard at Jumbo, and I put it to the test

Custard is the most disgustingly delicious dessert there is. Vanilla, double custard or pancake-flavored—I’ll happily eat it all. And custard with the flavor of apple pie with cinnamon—surely that can’t be anything other than delicious, right? I put it to the test and immediately poured myself a bowlful.

Apple pie in the form of custard; there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Because if they can turn every pastry, cake or sweet snack into an ice cream flavor, why not apple pie in liquid custard form? Besides, apple pie and custard: you can’t get more Dutch than that. Perfect, then, to combine in one carton.

Delicious!

So… how does it taste? While my housemate would still rather have a lukewarm slice of her mother’s apple pie (with speculoos), I actually find this version really quite delicious. As a custard lover, I’m easily won over by a bowl, but I’m genuinely going to buy this one with its tiny pieces of apple and biscuit, together with a hint of cinnamon, more often. New favorite!

Tip

And if you’re going to try it too: add an extra squirt of whipped cream, just as you would with apple pie; it makes it even more delicious! You can buy the apple pie custard at Jumbo for €1.50.
