Complaints about Unox: hairs in the soup and tasteless smoked sausage
For generations, Unox has been a familiar presence in Dutch kitchens. With products such as smoked sausage, soups and cocktail sausages, Unox brings warmth and conviviality into the home. Especially in winter, Unox is all about enjoying food together, comfort food and traditions that bring us closer. But wait a minute—not everyone is happy, as the complaints on the Netherlands’ largest complaints website show.

Are the children looking forward to a cheese cocktail sausage roll, only to find strange pieces in it? Do you want to warm up a can of chicken soup after ice skating, only to find purple liquid in it? Then there’s only one thing to do: complain! Fortunately, the Dutch are very good at that, and klacht.nl helps solve the problem. We’ve listed the most striking complaints about Unox.
Complaint: pasta turns to mush
A loyal Unox fan, Alie, writes about her experience with the Good Pasta Creamy Cheese Sauce: “I’ve been enjoying this snack for quite a few years, but now it’s a thick mush that tastes of nothing. No matter what you do, it remains one big lump.” Alie isn’t used to this from Unox and wants the old quality back, so that this snack will be as delicious as it used to be. “Since it isn’t exactly cheap either, I’d really appreciate some attention being paid to this,” is Alie’s motto.
Solution desired:
Firm pasta with the flavor we’ve come to expect from Unox, and no mushy lumps.
Complaint: hairs in the oxtail soup
Rinie had a less pleasant experience with Unox Oxtail Soup: “In a stand-up pouch of oxtail soup there was something that looked like a piece of sausage casing. But when I pulled it apart, it had all these little hairs in it. In my opinion, from an animal.” Complaints like this naturally raise questions about the soup’s hygiene and production quality, and Rinie hopes Unox will investigate the matter seriously.

A thorough inspection and control of the production processes to solve this problem.
Complaint: no sausage in the generously filled Dutch pea soup
Isdujama is clearly not happy with Unox Dutch Pea Soup: “The package showed a picture of lots of sausage, but there was exactly one piece of sausage in the entire package.” This is of course very misleading for customers who trust Unox’s promises. If you buy a soup that is “extra generously filled,” you naturally expect it to contain enough sausage—what a misleading food package!

A new soup with enough sausage in it, as promised on the packaging.
Complaint: black pieces in the cocktail sausages
Hans is also (to put it mildly) unhappy with his experience with Unox cocktail sausages: “For the third time already, I’ve found black pieces on the outside of cocktail sausages.” It seems as though something is wrong with the production of this popular sausage. Mirjam also recognized this problem; she discovered black skins on the sausages that looked like an insect or fly.
Solution desired:
Unox must immediately remove the cocktail sausages from the shelves until they have solved this problem.
Complaint: no teriyaki flavor in the noodles
Michel had high expectations of the Good Noodles with teriyaki flavor, but the taste was a major disappointment: “The teriyaki flavor was barely noticeable. It tasted more like plain noodles, as if they had forgotten to add the teriyaki.” What a disappointment.
Solution desired:
A more consistent flavor in the noodles, especially the teriyaki flavor promised on the packaging.
Complaint: tasteless chicken smoked sausage
Mick is not impressed with Unox’s chicken smoked sausage: “Unox’s chicken smoked sausage was limp and tasteless, while Aldi’s chicken smoked sausage was much crispier and you could really taste the chicken.” This is especially frustrating because Unox was always known for having the tastiest smoked sausage, and Mick is therefore disappointed that the chicken smoked sausage no longer meets his expectations. And it’s expensive on top of that!
Solution desired:
A quality smoked sausage with the real flavor of chicken and a crispy casing—not more of those tasteless varieties.
What can Unox do?
Of course, there are worse things than hair in your soup or a lump of pasta on your plate. But at certain moments, it feels like the greatest hardship in your life. Besides, we don’t want to be lured in only by attractive packaging; we also want value for our money. Otherwise, we know what to do: file a complaint and hope Unox reads it and provides adequate solutions. Or just make your own chicken soup—without hair. It’s much tastier anyway, right?
