Snack bar for sale! Drop everything and start frying!

frituren

Do you ever fantasize about quitting your 9-to-5 job, saying a friendly goodbye to your boss and celebrating your departure with generous platters of fries and croquettes, or perhaps something a little more refined with a high-frikandel? Then spending the rest of your hard-working entrepreneurial life with access to unlimited deep-fried treats? Then you might just be the entrepreneur Rienus Klaassen from Arnhem is looking for! Rienus has a dream job for you…

Because his snack bar is for sale! And it gets even better: there are two of them! Rienus has owned the De Saks fry kiosk for thirty-two years, and it can certainly be called historic, since this kiosk has been located on Weg achter het Bos for more than sixty years. Because it was always busy, he opened a second snack bar a little farther away in the Geitenkamp district in 2012, so people no longer had to wait so long for their fresh (homemade!) fries. And both locations are now for sale.

Deep-frying is serious business

But Klaassen isn’t selling the whole lot (which he owns together with his ex-wife Adrie) to just anyone – although he says he will eventually have to give up the work for health reasons, he isn’t in a huge hurry and says he can carry on for a while yet. That is why he is being very careful about who he ultimately wants to sell the business to: a number of interested parties have already come forward, but according to Rienus, they either underestimated it or couldn’t make the finances work. He strongly prefers someone to take over both businesses together, so that no competition arises between the two locations that are Rienus’ life’s work.

Dream job

There must also be a guaranteed place for the six employees, he told platform Snackkoerier. ‘Thanks to those fantastic employees, I was able to build the business into what it is today and keep it going, and I need to be able to hand them over to the new owner with peace of mind,’ says Rienus. And what will he miss most? The social aspect; ‘the conviviality, the contact with people, working together – that is very important to me.’ So now they are waiting for the truly perfect candidate.

The future is golden brown

Can you now picture the ultimate work paradise, filled with fry-table, experimental frikandellen and perhaps croquette letters around Sinterklaas, in collabs with fellow snack makers? And do you know how to get things done, and can you make the finances work? Well, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR then?? Google around, pick up the phone, and a future full of conviviality, loaded fries (the hit of 2021) and as many Mexicano’s as you want could suddenly be yours… We’ll come by!
