Scoop: the Netherlands’ first pizza drive-thru has opened
Ordering a slice of pizza from the comfort of your car seat: it’s finally possible. New York Pizza has opened the country’s first pizza drive-thru, where you can now swing by for a slice of pizza.
Since the coronavirus crisis, drive-thrus have become increasingly popular. A few weeks ago, for example, we regularly drove by in a cardboard car past Loetje for a steak, to Schmidt Zeevis for a herring, and drank wine while washing our cars at the Wijn-Was-Straat. As of today, a new stop has been added to the route, where hungry motorists can get a slice of pizza from the well-known pizza chain.

Mess-proof
Emphasis on slice. Because that’s what this drive-thru—and restaurant with a terrace, too—in Goes along the A58 is all about. The pizza slices are served mess-proof in a ‘slice box’ for the road. Although the focus is on selling pizza slices, you can also order a whole pizza; you’ll just have to wait a little longer for it, franchise and development director Stefan van Dijk tells Snackkoerier. Goes wasn’t chosen at random, by the way. Because of the amount of traffic in the city, it’s the ideal place to test the new concept.
Donut for dessert
And that’s not the only tasty news of the day. Besides pizza, you can also order donuts from your car at Dunkin’ Donuts. And honestly, after a savoury slice of pizza, a donut with sickly sweet pink frosting is the perfect dessert.
