Value for money: these are Michelin’s new Bib Gourmand restaurants of 2023

Michelin doesn’t just award new stars every year; several restaurants are also awarded a Bib Gourmand. At these restaurants, you don’t quite get Michelin-starred dining, but you do get exceptionally good—and delicious—food: you’ll find them all over the country. 

The Michelin Guide awards three types of distinctions each year: the (relatively new) Green Michelin Stars (which combine gastronomy with sustainability), the best-known and highly coveted Michelin Stars (for exceptional kitchen quality), and the Bib Gourmands. Bib Gourmands are awarded to restaurants that offer high quality at a reasonable price.

Or, in Michelin’s words: ‘Bib Gourmand restaurants offer a great balance between price, quality and enjoyment. The cooking style is irrelevant; the abundance of flavors is what matters. Whether the cuisine is Asian, traditional, or hip and creative, every restaurant with a Bib Gourmand has its own identity. They do, however, share important similarities: a focus on seasonal produce and the generosity that is so characteristic of the Bib Gourmand.’

Eight new Bib Gourmands were awarded this year:

• Lazuur, Amsterdam
• Wils Bakery Café, Amsterdam
• De Voorburcht, Hattem
• HAVN, Hoorn
• Bistrot Regent, Nijmegen
• Rotonde, Rotterdam
• Poortman, Veeningen
• Senang, Zwolle (by star chef couple Jonnie and Thérèse Boer)
