5 European top restaurants we want to eat at as soon as possible

We’re done with baking sourdough bread and working out with wine bottles and are happy to broaden our culinary horizons again. Sitting down at a top restaurant—how we’ve been looking forward to that! Which of the restaurants below would you choose?

One hundred percent plant-based
Chef Claire Vallée cooks everyone under the table at her vegan restaurant ONA. She even received a Michelin star, the first plant-based restaurant in France to receive that honor. Bring on ingredients such as sea lettuce, porcini mushrooms, kalamansi and galangal—we’re booking a return trip to Arès right away!
Sweet
The menu at Espaisucre in Barcelona, the world’s first dessert restaurant!, features desserts only. One sweet dessert course after another, perhaps some cheese, and of course a matching dessert wine. Heaven, right? You can also get to work here yourself: Espaisucre’s top chefs offer a workshop for twelve people where you learn absolutely everything about desserts. Completely crazy about desserts? Then be sure to add these dessert restaurants to your list too!
To the pub
Connaught Bar in London is the best bar in the world. Dry martinis are their specialty, so deciding what to order isn’t difficult either. Prefer a gin and tonic of the very best kind? Then you’ll have to fly a little farther: at Atlas in Singapore, more than a thousand (!) gins are on the menu. From Moldova to Colombia, from Switzerland to India, each one even more spectacular than the last, such as Wynand Fockink Genever from 1900. If they don’t have it here, it doesn’t exist anywhere.
Perfect pesto pasta
Three big stars hang above the door, but the chef himself has remained wonderfully down-to-earth: during the pandemic, Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana in Modena hosted online cooking workshops in which he revealed his secret to the perfect pesto pasta. But we’d rather sit down at a set table where the maestro serves one magical plate after another. Like that iconic dessert, ‘Oops, I dropped the Lemon Tart’…
Fish, fish, fish
Or we could fly to Norway to enjoy ourselves at the first underwater restaurant in Europe. Eighteen courses of fish, fish and more fish, caught as sustainably as possible. We’ll have to save up a little longer, since the price tag says €235 per person. Well, when you calculate how much money you’ve saved by not eating out for such a long time, it’s a bargain.
